The Thought of Losing You
One lonely night a young man who was always barefoot was bitten on one if his bare feet by a spider. Upon examination of the localized pain he saw the spider scurrying away and then slipping into a small crevice between the floor and the baseboard. This prompted him to forgo his normal activity in bare feet and to start wearing shoes. A few days later the spider came back except this time it was is his dream. The spider apologized for his actions and swore it would never happen again. The spider started to reappear in his dreams nightly and the two soon became the best of friends. Many months later after returning home from late night out, the young man was walking into his room when he heard a crunch. He looked down and realized he had crushed his best friend who had fallen asleep waiting and worrying where his friend was. The young man was so devastated about killing his friend he decided that the thought of losing his friend was not an option. So he read many book and researched for countless hours about how to bring his friend back to life. Sadly many years passed the young man was now an old man who had spent his entire life trying to resuscitate a spider. The old man would often speculate that if he wasn’t wearing shoes, he wouldn’t have crushed his best friend. When the old man finally died the hopes of rekindling the friendship was lost forever.
This song pays tribute to the fallen friend and man’s ability to become completely consumed by pointless and false hope.
The End.
