Third time's the charm...
Hello fellow dredg fans. I've never really written a blog before, but it figures that the first time I do it's on the dredg site. Heh. So here's a story for ya.
Since becoming a fan in 2004, I've met the members of dredg twice so far. Once was after my first time seeing them play live in May of 2005, and as I shook Gavin's hand (and later gave him a hug), I was speechless. The second time was the last concert of theirs I attended (earlier this year), where I ran into them before the show and actually managed a brief conversation with them.
BUT...I've had this tattoo, y'see, since 2005, of that symbol dredg has used ever since Leitmotif - the one they still have on some of their keyboards and modifications of which they use in a lot of their artwork and such. And I know it seems like such a silly fangirl thing, and maybe they'd think it was totally lame, but I swear...the next time I get a chance to meet them, I'm showing them my tattoo, damnit! Of the four tattoos I have now, it's my first and still my favorite.
I'll let ya know how that goes.
Love,
Vikkey

just met Gavin for the first time last night at the Detroit - St. Andrew's show. At the very end of their peformance, he jumped down into the crowd and proceeded to make a b-line to the exiting doors, located in the front of the venue. Luckily, some fans stopped him on the steps and were offering some kind words and gifts. As he walked away from them, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and was able to show him my tattoo as well! I have been a huge fan of DREDG since '99, and I also have the icon that you are speaking of...well, a version of it anyway. This symbol has had many variations throughout the years....they are always coming up with new ways to think and see past the traditional...gotta love 'em! My tattoo is on my right forearm and it is the version they use in and on PPD. I also managed to get out a few "star-struck" words, shake his hand... and he said he loved the tattoo! It was amazing...I'm a 30yr old straight-male and I feel like a schoolgirl!! I'm never washing my hand again!!! LOL I'm sure he'd rather see your tattoo...wherever it may be!! I really hope you get to see him again...he's such an inspiration! MUCH LUV 2 EVERYONE/EVERYWHERE!!
