I have found Safari to be the most reliable browser I've used.
Firefox simply uses too much RAM for my tastes. =/

I hear what you're saying about pre-package browsers, but at least Apple appears to create and distribute updates based on user feedback.
For me, the most important thing is that the text renders well. And both Firefox and Safari render text really well while IE texts look 'skeletal'.

chrome is pretty decent from what i've experienced, using the beta on my mac.
firefox is by far my favorite...and safari is good....but, i just have an issue using pre-packaged browsers, which is all IE's fault. I know i shouldn't lump safari in with ie...and i don't really....but, at the same time, i don't give it the credit it deserves...

Great comment! But the reason it still holds such a large share (as you probably know) is because of:
1. it being pre-installed on most new PCs
2. the average computer user being either uninformed or lazy.
Personally I think Safari 4 renders text much better than any of the other browsers. I teach computer classes and recommend to all my students to change over to at least Safari if not FireFox.

I just switched from using Firefox 3 to Safari 4 on my Mac... it is sooo much faster. I've only used IE at the library recently; it SUCKS! Yet some of my friends use it as their regular browser, I don't get it =( .

three cheers to this, and then some.
it would be more tolerable if ie6-8 all rendered pages similarly...but each version of the browser handles web pages differently. it's beyond annoying...
