Daniel Johnston
I just finished watching a documentary known as "The Devil and Daniel Johnston". I had no idea about who this man was, or what he did or generally anything about him. I saw the trailer for it and it really intrigued me. Anyways, I just thought that I wanted to comment on it, usually I am a very reserved person and don't make to much noise unless I see fit. This documentary, and the man Daniel Johnston were completely captivating to me. HIs story is quite a sad one but there are some uplifting moments. If you don't know, Daniel Johnston is a musician and artist who gained fame in the mid 80's although he has mental health issues. As of right now, i'm still sort of soaking it all in, but I would have to say this was nothing short of brilliant. His music & art, I would also call brilliant. If you don't already know about this man, I implore you to watch the movie, and check out some of his music & art.

Re: Daniel Johnston
YES THIS MOVIE IS INCREDIBLE!! I live in San Marcos Texas and he was really popular here and just a true character! I got to meet him recently and he truly is something else! And the movie itself is great. Except for the plane part when he wanted to be like Casper!! That is just crazy!!

Yes, the part where he began to believe he was Casper in the plane was devastating to watch. I felt so bad for his father, he seemed so distraught over the situation even after so many years had passed. I thought that the filmmakers did an incredible job of showing the real Daniel. I have really become a big fan of his work, songs like Walking the Cow, Some Things Last a Long Time and Story of an Artist are all masterpiece's to me. I always hope for people like Daniel and bands like Dredg to achieve the fame they really deserve, but sometimes i think they're right where they're suppose to be. They have a core following of loyal fans and those who appreciate good art will eventually find them.
