Ehhh... The Matroshka's maybe or what about The Pariah's ? The Ornament Of The Room perhaps... 90 hr Quote but only on their first album...

Sorry, I like tons of bands but with Dredg I'm shure that no band sounds like Dredg... a bit childish maybe...

But I'm open and curious to idea's and suggestions ?

But make it a good one ;-)

I'd say the better way to phrase this question would be, What bands would fans of dredg like?

Me, I'm a big fan of Ours. So naturally I was STOKED to see them play with dredg in 2006. Do yourself a favor and check them out if you haven't already.

I'd have to agree. There really isn't anyone that sounds like dredg. Similar aspects, perhaps.

Dredg has done so much it leaves open to a lot of non mainstream acts, but it could range from instrumental bands like The Mercury Program, to Kaddisfly and their album "Set Sail to the Prairie" with there being a concept commonality.

This is just a really hard thread to me. Bands that have toured/opened for dredg dont really all do it for me. Like Ours, while some may like them, i find them stale and very unlike dredg. This could be the same if I might like Pelican or something and the people who like Ours find them stale.

Klimt 1918, I think (depends what album/songs) is closest to dredg. And they sing in Italian. English too here and there.

Can anyone help shed some light on this subject?

Actually, I would say Muse is quite similar. A more mainstream band, but similar.

I like Muse a lot. If you like dredg I would check out MeWithoutYou, and the RX Bandits. Im sure most people like Tool and the Mars Volta here as well. If you like Metal as well check out Between the Buried and Me and of course Opeth.

I always thought Radiohead's lush arrangements and intricacies were on par with dredg's amount of musical layers.

    Awesome.

If you enjoy dredg, you may also enjoy Oceansize, Porcupine Tree, Jesu and other bands like that.
These artists aren't entirely similar but, like many of you have already said, may also be enjoyed by dredg fans.

As an aside, I like the new site. The new forums. Looks good.

I am flipping between the new Isis and new Dredg . . . I think on a darker and just as tricked out level, dredg fans may like Type O Negative.

They're long broken up and never had any type of success, but Ambionic always reminded me a bit of dredg. Some of the Bay Area folks may know of them.

Minus the Bear doesn't sound anything like dredg. I live in WA and have seen them live a couple of times and they're actually quite boring to see live. They do sound like their albums live except they have no stage presence whatsoever. But I can see fans of dredg liking Minus the Bear, maybe not vice versa though.

Yeah, a friend recommended them back when i first started listening to dredg and i listened and the similarities were like eh.. but i enjoy some songs of theirs. still trying to get my head around a lot of them and especially the older material. if anything the guitar and the drums have hints of dredg-esque qualities.

Although not really that similar, Circa Survive gives me that same "mystical" feeling that dredg puts off (for lack of a better word). I haven't seen dredg live yet personally =(, but i'm sure their shows feel like a religious experience lol.

To be honest, it always felt spiritual in some respect. Probably a combination of my love for their music, seeing and hearing them in person, their unique ethereal sound and the philosophical nature of the lyrics. Probably my favorite combination.
