I read you, but I guess that's just the nature and miracle of men (rarely women i suppose). Guess there's nothing to be done about this either, except for nicely asking the person for some more reservation so you and others can enjoy the gig as well (what you obviously did). Other than that, well, i dunno, maybe change of place if possible.

Heres what i don't really understand at all. I don't really understand how some people can actually mosh at a Dredg show.....How?? I never see it as a moshing kind of atmosphere at all. I guess with songs like Ode or even Tanbark maybe but Jamais Vu???? Planting Seeds?? Come on!!! I could understand crowd surfing but seriously people moshing is fuckin ridiculous at a Dredg show. I agree with what she said that some people just take concerts as a place to just do whatever you want, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. Drink if you can handle it, Smoke outside, and let those smaller than you have a better view. Now I'm tall so i let my wife stand in front of me or to the side. Here is one other thing i just cant fucking stand!! People that try to just bum rush to the front of the stage from the back and just muscle their way there. I get to shows early for 2 freakin reasons!!! 1) To enjoy what the city has to offer and meet the band 2) To get a really good spot! So if you decided to show up to the show 5 min. before it starts and decide to bulldoze your way to the front...I will fuckin punch you fuckin nose in. Be considerate for those of us who get there on time! and stay your ass in the back! or wait for people to move! don't just go pushing people around!

ok thats enough for me I'm gonna go hit a bar with some friends and play pool!
enjoy your night folks....and remember...be considerate of others in public!

Lionhunter, EXACTLY!!! I forgot to mention the fact that dredg isn't like Black Sabbath or Rage... I mean, at a gig like that - craziness is to be expected. And I always first ask politely, after taking multiple beatings. But when the only response is "it's a F*cking concert" I lose my cool. If you wanna be high, do it beforehand; I shouldn't have to smell it. Again, I too enjoy drinking but there's a time and a place to be wasted - when it negatively impacts others who pay to be there, to listen to amazing music - it's no longer an appropriate venue. And I TOTALLY understand the bum rushing thing. I too get so frustrated when I've been standing for hours, through usually crappy opening bands to be forced from my earned spot. Sorry to vent, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who feels there are certain ways to behave at a gig.

i'm sorry but i have to weigh in on this one and say that people in new york are just pussies at concerts. i'm from detroit where they REALLY get down at shows.

i understand where you're coming from to an extent but honestly i love to see people getting into the music. that's the kind of energy a band feeds off of and in return delivers a more high energy show.

my best advice to you would be to find a good spot in the balcony next time. you can hear just as well, see just as well, and there is typically a lot less craziness going on up there. but to be real with you, most of what you're complaining about here is to be expected at concerts, whether you like it or not.

That's just my point - I DO get into it - but not at the expense of other's. I don't throw myself into people and not care about it. If I'm feelin it and step on a toe, I apologize. I don't force my way through the crowd to the front, thinking I'm better than everyone else. And, again, I would expect a mosh type scene at a Rage concert - but dredg? Ermmmm no. At the very least, don't use "it's a concert" as an excuse to be rude. And NYC "pussies"? Sorry, no.

Yeah... dredg... NOT moshing music. I'm there to listen to the music and move to it and all but I hate people fucking up my groove! I showered before the show and got prettied up so its not cool for the sweaties to be pushing up against me.

And according to interviews... dredg loves us NYC people, we're a favorite city to them and I am so greatful they were here for two nights :)

petty complaints, regardless of the band and style of music.

people pushing to the front does not mean that they think they're better than you, it means that they want to be closer to the stage and they don't care if they have to bump a few people to get there. just the fact that anyone would whine about something like that only proves my point that new york concertgoers are just wimps.

if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. as i said before, go to the balcony if you don't want your toes getting stepped on. IT'S A CONCERT!!

    cirqdusolfn,

I do agree with you but I feel like every person has the right to express what they feel by dancing their face off and singing out the lyrics. But on the other hand their is point of extreme behavior (which I may have expressed in Towson, MD at a show, my first) which is not cool. I to am #1 fan and I was just overwhelmed by the their show and did get a little outta control. On the other hand no ladies asked me to stop and at 6'4" maybe they were scared to. In that case anyone who was offended by that I will pay for a ticket to the next show. The crazy thing to me nobody was getting into like me except about 5 other guys and one girl near the front and the rest of the people were sitting still like statues. Ultimately showing support comes in different ways, thanks for your time,

I understand energy feeds the band...and a more energetic crowd gets the band fuckin rockin. But I just dont see that moshing is necessary as that kind of energy. A crowd will get rowdy of course. I went to see Circa Survive back in feb. at the troubadour. Let me tell you that place jus blew up man. The crowd was dancing and jiving but no moshing was done. It was a beautiful show and just so freakin energetic and anthony green was jus feedin of the crowd. That is an energetic show. This is something that Dredg has done time and time again at shows. I also think that some crowds are bettter than others. The Dredg show in Fresno last year was by far one of the greatest Dredg shows ive been to. While the glasshouse shows were rather pitiful. Lame crowd. What im gettin at is that the crowd doesnt need to be moshin to provide energy. Dancing, moving, bobbin your head or just singing madly to the song is more than enough.

I tend to get balcony ticket as I get a bit crowd-a-phobic at times and with allocated seats, even if we're all standing and dancing, the spaces are somewhat defined. But I guess I have seen enough gigs in my life that I go for comfort in my old age! LOL. All said, I was standing right at the front for the Dredg London gig and wouldn't have settled for anything else!! There was some crowd shoving but it was rather limited. My tip, cirqdusolfn, is to stand at the side of the stage as somehow all the "action" happens in the centre. Besides you get to see more of Drew or Mark!!!

Haha yah thanks David - I did stand to the side but it didn't help. I always find the looney tunes. Again, I too sing along - but not in someone's ear - I too feel the music - but not when it involves almost pushing someone to the floor. I also enjoy being near the front, that's why I get there early. It IS rude to push to the front...if you show up 5 mintues before a headliner and expect to be at the stage and push through, damn everyone else. It's inconsiderate. Annnnyway...I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. Moving on...can't wait for them to come back...nothing fills my happy tank like dredg music.

I just want to add that you are definitely not alone! I go to the venue early for that same reason. And I usually spent there at least 3 hours before dredg, so I can be front row and enjoy them most.
It depends so much on the crowd though... But I hear you and I totally agree about that attitude! I doubt that being high and wasted makes you experience the concert better.

It's not just New York. Those people are assholes everywhere.

If you want to mosh, go see Andrew W.K. and rub up on all the man you want.

Yeah I definitely hate people who mosh or get overly belligerent at shows like Dredg. Time and place for being a crazy asshole, their shows isn't the right atmosphere. If anyone thats posts here was in the front in Detroit you'll know the kind of person I mean.

This is not proper Dredg show etiquette here!!! But just fuckin awesome. I remember seeing lamb of god at ozzfest like in 04 or 05. It was one of the sickest performances other than The Black Dahlia Murder

I mean everyones doing jagerbombs and the music calls for it. If I were a dude I'd go ape shit at a LOG show. Good clip!
