Thought I'd start a new thread for people to discuss what they think about this song.
Personally, I kinda doubt when Gavin says "these drugs will expand us" that he means literal drugs, since the first song on the album he says "no more addiction" and nothing else on the album mentions anything else like this, I think...
On the other hand, it's really weird, cuz the album is all about "no more delusions" and maybe he's talking about hallucinogens? or it could be a metephor?
Does anyone know of any dredg interview where they talk about any kind of drug use in a positive way for them?
Anyone have any other ideas of what the chorus to Quotes means?

That is excellent. I'm glad.
Personally, my experimentation with drugs has never been that of addiction. I wish that it could be that way for everyone.
Gavin is probably referring to hallucinogens and not other "hard" drugs like coke, meth, or heroin.
I personally have never done hard drugs but I have smoked my fair share of pot and taken acid and shrooms a couple times.
Some say pot is not addictive, and it isn't really in a physical sense but mentally it can become a crutch. And it doesn't necessarily expand one's consciousness, rather just allows you to relax and enjoy things like food and music in a different way.
This leads me to believe that the "drugs" referred to in this song are either LSD, Mescaline, Shrooms, or another psychoactive substance known to give people spiritual awakenings...
"expanding their conciousness" Allowing them to grow and perhaps move beyond some trauma that they have experienced.
It's true that this can be accomplished without using any drugs, but the drugs can be an effective shortcut. And is cheaper than seeing a psychologist or therapist. -
