Dredg.... New and Old
Dredg..... For me this band has been the greatest symphony ever played. Not only am I blessed to grow up in the town where they have made such a name for them selves but I still remember watching them play at Three Oaks Vacaville Community center. Back when they played with bands like Malcontent, Hellen 55... and many many more. Trough each album they have told such a strong powerful story always leaving you wanting more. Each song is a story of its own, Even the short carry-overs to full songs.... on that note.....
I saw you guys on the 18th of last month... May... Fuckin blew me away, its been a while since you have come around the area with being on tour and all but still you manage to move the crowd in ways no one can imagine. Gaven can project his voice so well even with the PA up super loud you can hear his actual voice over powering them... Really quite a fuckin kick ass experience. Every person I have ever shown your music too.... they have simply fallen in love with how your songs are put together... the fast pace guitar but yet it fits with slow paced songs so well.... crazy and simply un-comparable to any other band. So now that my rambling is done. I really just wanted to say...
Thank you Dredg, you really are keeping music alive. Every album I can just push play on and let it go... 2 or 3 times over. I never get tired of any of your music and I doubt I ever will. Cant wait for the new Album. The new songs so FUCKING great! Thank you guys so so so much and keep it up... for all of us
~Tony

I feel the same way as the original poster. Saw them on the 23 of May at the Troubadour and as always was blown away. Was brought to tears as Same old Road started. I hope they will keep making music as long as life permits

My first close dredg encounter was when they opened for Alien Ant Farm in the 013, Tilburg, Holland in 2002. I went to that show with my fellow band members and we were all completely blown away. Never heard of them before we didn't know what to expect... it was overwhelming, fucking loud, great plants on stage ;-) and intens ! From that moment we were all sold.
For me Dredg is my no. 1 band and grown to be my biggest musical and lyrical influence.
Thank you Dredg for doing stuff... -

I too am from Los Gatos by chance, that's tight.
Just a thought, something I wanted to post, but it seems to me that The Warbler was kind of a preview to the writing coming on PPD. Intentional or not, it seems to have that same delusion and destruction theme. Anyone else agree, or am I trying too hard? -

You cats from Los Gatos are lucky fucks. Thanks Tony for your awesome first post here. I'm lucky in that I have managed to see Dredg at least 8 times, now. First I saw them play with Deadsy, both opening for Taproot. (Taproot was such a comedown from what Dredg delivered -we left midway through their 2nd song, lol). That show mezmerised us - "who's that vocalist?!!" - and the rest is history. Seen em over half a dozen times, since. Always manage to say hey to the guys in the band, they are (obviously) such laid back, down to earth gents. It feels great to know I've spent most of the 00's following this band - since Leitmotif's release and subsequent tours. I, too, have been smitten by dredg like no other band in the 21st century. Long may they continue to blow us away.

Do you mean El Cielo? Leitmotif was released (and re-released) before the Taproot/Deadsy tour, which was just a few months before the release of El Cielo. -

Well, yes and no - - you're right - - El Cielo was the album released just after that Taproot Tour - - but what I meant was, that I had been a confirmed fan since Leitmotif, and that I went to that show because Letimotif was one of my favorite albums. So I kinda worded my post poorly -my bad. -

Re: Dredg.... New and Old
Good post. I had the misfortune of not discovering Dredg until 2005, but once I heard my first song (The Tanbark is Hot Lava) I was hooked to the end. I'm still blown away every time I listen to any of their albums, and I can't wait to see them later this month. It'll be my third time, but it's always a new and incredible experience. I hate to not be supportive of all the bands, but I'm definitely leaving as soon as Dredg is done. No thanks Circa Survive, nothing can follow what Dredg is going to bring to the stage.
